You will need:

12 beads of your choosing, round or bicone work well
(the bigger the beads the bigger the finished bead).

40cm x 0.2mm nylon thread
Beading needle

How to make the beaded ball:

Thread four beads onto the nylon, tie the ends together to make a circle of beads and trim off the excess tail. Make sure your knot is secure and you knot about 4-5 times in opposite directions (pic1).

Thread through one of the beads next to the knot and add three beads onto the thread. Pass back through the bead you just came out of, looping the beads around it (pic2).

Thread up through one of the beads you just added and through the ‘end’ bead (pic3).

Add on three more beads and thread back through the bead you just came out of (pic4).

Thread up through one of the beads you just added and through the ‘end’ bead (pic 5).

Add one bead onto the thread and thread through the bead at the opposite end (pic 6).

Add on the remaining bead and thread through the bead at the opposite end (pic 7).

Pull the threads tight, creating a ball of beads (pics 8 &9).

Pass the thread through the holes of the beads being careful not to loop around any of the beads. Repeat around the whole of the ball of beads until the bead feels secure. Tie off with three reef knots, pass through a few beads, tie off with three reef knots, pass through a few beads and trim off the excess (pic10).

If you would like to create some earrings with the beaded ball, use a jump ring to attach the ear wire, simply hook the jump ring onto the thread between the beads.
